Sciatica
Pain affecting the back, hip, and outer side of the leg, caused by compression of a spinal nerve root in the lower back, often to degeneration of an intervertebral disk.

Herniated disc
Condition affecting the spine, in which a tear in the outer, fibrous ring of an intervertebral disc allows the soft, central ...nucleus to bulge out

Strain
An injury to a part of the body caused by overexertion or twisting a muscle awkwardly

Spinal stenosis
Condition in which the spinal canal narrows and compresses the spinal cord and nerves. this is usually due to the common occurrence of spinal degeneration that occurs with aging. it can also sometimes be caused by spinal disc herniation, osteoporosis or a tumour.

Osteoarthritis
Degeneration of joint cartilage and the underlying bone.

Factors that can increase your risk of developing back pain, or aggravate it once you have it.

These include:
• standing, sitting or bending down for long periods
• lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads that are too heavy, or going about these tasks in the wrong way
• having a trip or a fall
• being stressed or anxious
• being overweight
• having poor posture.
